DEBABRATA GHOSH (date of birth: 09.06.1961) had completed his school education from the Ramakrishna Mission Vidyapith, Purulia by passing out the Madhyamik Pariksha in 1978 with 76% marks. He did his higher secondary and collegiate education from the J. K. College, Purulia and stood second class first (55.8%) in his Honours Degree Course Examination in History in 1983 under the University of Burdwan, obtaining thereby the Sarojbasini Medal. He obtained first class (68.4%) in his B. Ed. Examination in 1985 under the University of Burdwan. He did his masters course in History with specialisation in Modern Indian History from the University of Burdwan and stood first class first (66.7%) in 1988, receiving thereby the University Gold Medal and the Jitendranath Choudhury Smriti Medal. He started his professional career as a college teacher since 17.03.1989. He had been awarded the Ph. D. Degree on 15.10.1996 by the University of Kalyani for his dissertation entitled 'The Early Colonial Interaction in a Bengal Zamindari: Burdwan in the Late Eighteenth Century'.

Dr Debabrata Ghosh has taught in the R. K. M. Brahmananda College of Education, Rahara, Kolkata-700118 during 17.03.1989-31.05.2005 as Lecturer, Lecturer (Senior Scale) and then Reader in History, except the period when he served the Kabi Nazrul College, Murarai, Birbhum-731219 as Reader and Head, Department of History, during 04.05.2012-12.08.2012 on lien.

Dr Ghosh has also served as a Guest Lecturer in the Department of History, Vidyasagar University, Paschim Medinipur in 2003-2004 and in the Department of History, Rabindra Bharati University, Kolkata in 2004-2005. He has also acted as the Module Writer, Examiner, and Personal Contact Programme Counsellor for the M. A. Course in History taught through the distance mode by the Universities of Vidyasagar, Rabindra Bharati and Kalyani during 2003-2005.

Dr Ghosh then joined Balagarh Bijoy Krishna Mahavidyalaya, Balagarh, Hooghly-712501 as its Principal and served it during 01.06.2005-31.08.2012. On 1st September 2012, he had joined Sir Rashbehari Ghosh Mahavidyalaya, Ukhrid (Khandaghosh), Burdwan-712142 as its Principal, where he remains till date except the period when he served Dr. Bhupendra Nath Dutta Smriti Mahavidyalaya, Hatgovindapur, Burdwan-713407 as its Principal during 31.07.2015 (afternoon)-30.06.2016 (afternoon) on lien.

Dr Ghosh is a recognised Ph D Research Supervisor in the Department of History, the University of Burdwan. At present, eight (08) Ph D Scholars are working under his guidance.

Krishnamohan Banerjee and Bengal Renaissance" organised by the Department of History, Baruipur College (Purandarpur Math, South 24-Parganas) in collaboration with the Corpus Research Institute, Kolkata on 2nd April 2013, where Dr Ghosh presented a paper on 'Bharatbarshe Jatiyatabadi Chetanavikasher Unmeshkale Reverend Krishnamohan Bandyopadhyayer Avadan'.

Presented a research paper entitled 'Sanskritik Bichinnata O Sahitya : Prasanga Kabuliwalar Bangali Bou' in the "Two Day International Seminar on Social Inequality and Literature" organized by the Department of Bengali, Tripura University in collaboration with ICSSR, New Delhi on 16-17 January 2014.

Acted as the main speaker in a workshop on 'Dakshinbanger Itihas O Sanskriti' organized by Bardhaman Itihas O Puratatva Charcha Kendra on 14 January 2018 at Jagari, Goods Shed Road, Bardhaman, where Dr Ghosh delivered a lecture on 'Bardhaman Zamidarite Prarambhik Oupanibeshik Avighat'.

Besides, Dr Ghosh has participated in a good number of  State-Level Seminars and has published numerous articles in journals (not peer-reviewed) and periodicals.
